BRICS Summit Declaration Backs AI Governance and Robotics Cooperation
The 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit in New Delhi issued a declaration that recognized the work of seven specialized working groups under the BRICS industrial channel. In particular, it commended the Smart Manufacturing and Robotics Working Group for its efforts in smart factory development, solution sharing, standards cooperation, and talent training.
The declaration acknowledged that artificial intelligence presents significant opportunities for economic growth and sustainable development. It stressed that leveraging AI for economic growth and social welfare is crucial to fostering a just, fair, equal, and prosperous future for all countries, especially those in the Global South.
The leaders also affirmed the Shanghai World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance. They recognized the conference's contribution to strengthening international AI cooperation and promoting 'AI for good.'
The declaration underscores a shared commitment to inclusive AI governance and industrial collaboration among BRICS nations. The recognition of the working groups reflects a broader push to align industrial standards and share best practices.
