China Adds Embodied AI Robot Technician to Latest List of New Occupations
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other departments released China’s eighth batch of new occupations on September 9, adding 11 emerging professions and 23 new work types. Among them, the embodied intelligent robot application technician was formally recognized, marking a milestone for talent development in the robotics sector.
The batch brings the cumulative total to 121 new occupations released since 2019. The listing reflects how rapid expansion across the robot industry is reshaping talent requirements and raising the urgency of industry-education integration. It also signals growing demand for workers who can deploy, operate and maintain embodied AI systems in real-world settings. For robotics companies, the designation could help clarify job roles and support workforce planning as embodied AI moves from laboratories to commercial deployment. Training institutions may also face pressure to update curricula and align programs more closely with industry needs.
