Physical AI Nears Commercial Inflection as Supply Chain Firms Seize Opportunities
Physical AI is emerging as a fresh investment theme in both the global AI industry and China’s A-share market. Several concept stocks linked to physical AI, robotics and data elements have posted standout gains. Unitree Technology, a robotics company, rebounded more than 65% over seven trading days from mid-October, according to Shanghai Securities News, underscoring the sector’s sudden market traction.
The rally reflects two main drivers: faster industrial evolution and the growing entry of technology giants. Investors are also responding to a compute narrative built around “training, simulation and edge-side” deployment. This framing extends the earlier AI compute story and helps alleviate concerns that AI capital expenditure may be nearing a peak, giving the sector a new narrative anchor beyond large language models.
In China, central and local authorities have introduced policies to support physical AI development. Listed companies are positioning themselves across the supply chain, from core components and simulation platforms to edge computing and robotic applications. Their early moves signal that physical AI is shifting from a conceptual theme toward an industrial race, with companies seeking to capture opportunities at what is viewed as a commercial inflection point. The convergence of policy support and corporate positioning could accelerate adoption across manufacturing, logistics and service sectors, though commercialization timelines and profitability remain key questions for investors.
