PNDbotics Brings Humanoid Robots to Real Factory Tasks at Smart City Expo

"Robots for Work" marks a shift: humanoid robots are moving from "being able to move" to "actually doing work." When one stands before industrial equipment, the key is not whether it can perform a graceful action, but whether it can understand the task, perceive the environment, and adapt its execution to on-site changes, completing an entire process within real production rhythms.

From September 11 to 13, the 16th Smart City and Intelligent Economy Expo will be held at the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. PNDbotics has built a "FutureFactory" industrial scenario under the theme "Robots in the Real World," showcasing humanoid robots' exploration in manufacturing through tasks such as machine tool loading and unloading, workpiece grasping, conveyor belt sorting, and material transfer.

The scenario corresponds to the "Future Market" lifestyle exhibition area: the latter answers how robots integrate into daily life, while the former confronts a more specific question—can humanoid robots truly work in factories?

02. From a single action to a complete task, what lies between is a whole set of system capabilities. For industrial robots, "grasping" and "placing" have never been the bottleneck. The real challenge is when to grasp, what to grasp, where to place it, and what to do next.

These continuous decisions require modules such as visual perception, task understanding, motion planning, and execution control to work together, forming a complete task loop. PNDbotics says it aims to present not an isolated "high-difficulty action" but the full-process system capability from perception to decision-making to execution.

When a robot faces real workpieces, real equipment, and a real production environment, every successful execution is a verification of system reliability—not a one-off demo performance.

03. Full-stack capability is an important foundation for industrialization. Embodied intelligence is essentially a highly complex systems engineering endeavor. From core components and joint modules at the bottom layer, to overall machine design, to robot communication, algorithms, and final application validation, every link affects how the robot performs in real environments.

PNDbotics continues to build full-stack technical capabilities from components to systems and from hardware to algorithms. Its goal is to advance robots from "being able to move" to "being able to complete tasks" through software-hardware collaboration.

This systematic capability is the foundation for tackling complex real-world applications—validating once in a lab does not equal stable operation in a factory, and completing a demo does not equal the ability to continuously create value. Moving from technical validation to real scenarios is a threshold that humanoid robot industrialization must cross.

04. What does it actually mean for humanoid robots to enter factories? For manufacturing, their most direct value is not that they "look like humans," but that they naturally fit the many production environments already built around human working methods—machine tool operation positions, workbench heights, aisle widths, and operational paths were all originally designed according to human body dimensions and habits.

As AI algorithms, robot bodies, core components, and embodied intelligence technologies continue to iterate, humanoid robots are gradually moving from "future products" toward "industrial tools."

At this expo, PNDbotics says it hopes to convey a clear signal through Future Factory: robots are not just standing in factories for display, but beginning to truly participate in work. From industrial sites to daily life, from Future Factory to Future Market, PNDbotics is always answering the same question—bringing robots into the real world to solve real problems and create real value.
