Robot Swarm 'Hears' Arena Shape Without Localization or Maps

A new Science Robotics study reports that a robot swarm can infer the shape of its arena without GPS, maps, or a central controller. Instead, robots relay simple signals among neighbors, letting boundary information propagate through the group.
