Bay Area Startup Tests Humanoid Robot for Last-Mile Package Delivery
A Bay Area startup recently took its self-developed humanoid robot outdoors to demonstrate an end-to-end delivery scenario. In the demonstration, the robot autonomously unloaded packages from an electric pickup truck, navigated public streets and sidewalks, and delivered a parcel to a customer's doorstep. The test moves embodied AI from controlled warehouse environments to the unpredictable real world, directly targeting the last-mile logistics challenge. Last-mile delivery is often the most costly and inefficient segment of the supply chain due to labor shortages and urban congestion. By showcasing a humanoid robot capable of handling both cargo handling and outdoor navigation, the startup aims to prove that general-purpose robots can bridge the gap between vehicles and doorsteps. The demonstration suggests that humanoid robots could soon play a practical role in commercial delivery operations.
