Westlake Robotics Completes A1 Financing Worth Hundreds of Millions
Westlake Robotics, a Hangzhou-based developer of general-purpose brains for robots, announced today that it has completed its A1 financing round, securing several hundred million yuan. Westlake Robotics is positioned as a 'general brain' company, developing both the cognitive and motor control systems for robots. The round was backed by a group of investment institutions, including Haiyuan Capital, Cuiwei Fund, Ginkgo Valley Capital, Westlake Kechuang Investment, and Zhongshan Venture Capital. The substantial funding underscores continued investor confidence in China's embodied AI sector.
According to the company, the proceeds from this A-series financing will be focused on three core strategic directions. The first priority is to fully tackle WR1, a general embodied foundation model that integrates full-body motion and manipulation. This model aims to unify high-level cognition and low-level control for versatile robotic tasks. The second direction is to accelerate multi-scenario commercialization of embodied intelligence, bringing the technology into real-world applications. The third direction was not disclosed in the announcement.
