Shanghai Robot Sparring Seeks One-Second Response to Elderly Falls
On the afternoon of October 23, the Future Creation Hall on the fourth floor of the West Bund International Convention and Exhibition Center hosted a robot sparring session at the 'Boxing Star Club' booth during the WTCC West Bund International Technology Consumer Carnival. An EngineAI robot that won a round performed showy street-dance hand gestures, drawing crowds.
Engineers controlled the poses, but the increasingly agile machines remained among the fair's most eye-catching exhibits. The combat-style demo tests balance, joint response and control stability in fast, close-range interaction.
Although teleoperation still drives the movements, the display is being used to explore how robots can detect and respond to emergencies such as an elderly person falling within one second.
