A-Share Close: Shanghai Composite Up 0.39% as Banks, Defense and Humanoid Robots Lead
China's A-share market closed mixed, with the Shanghai Composite rising 0.39% despite more than 3,100 stocks falling. Large-cap financial and industrial shares lifted the benchmark, while overall market breadth remained weak and decliners outnumbered advancers.
Banking stocks rose collectively: Agricultural Bank of China and Postal Savings Bank of China gained over 3%, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China hit an intraday record high to reclaim its position as the largest A-share company by market capitalization. Defense stocks fluctuated upward, with Ganhua Science & Industry posting a second consecutive limit-up, while AVIC Material and North Navigation rose more than 8%. The Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments issued an opinion on accelerating technology-driven commerce, and humanoid robot concept stocks traded actively. The index's advance was narrow, reflecting cautious sentiment, while policy signals continued to draw interest in advanced manufacturing themes.
