Xpeng Robot Business Raises Over $900M in First Round, Valued at $6.3B
Xpeng's robotics business has completed its first funding round of over $900 million, with a post-money valuation exceeding $6.3 billion (approximately RMB 43 billion). This marks a significant milestone for the company as it expands into embodied intelligence.
IDG Capital led the round, with Gaorong Ventures also participating. Tencent and Alibaba joined as strategic investors, providing both capital and potential ecosystem support. Xpeng Group will retain controlling stake in the robotics unit, ensuring strategic alignment with its broader mobility vision.
According to sources familiar with the deal, this investment represents one of the largest single disclosed investments in the embodied intelligence sector for each of the four investors involved. The substantial backing underscores growing confidence in the practical applications of embodied AI, particularly in areas such as autonomous driving and intelligent robotics. Xpeng's robotics unit is expected to leverage these funds to accelerate R&D and commercialization efforts, though specific plans have not yet been disclosed.
