Neura Robotics Partners with E.ON to Develop Humanoid Grid Inspection Robots
Humanoid robots are moving into the maintenance of energy infrastructure. Neura Robotics, headquartered in Metzingen, Germany, is working with energy group E.ON and an eastern German power company to develop humanoid robots for power-grid inspection. The partners expect the first field experience from the collaboration around 2027.
The project aims to test how humanoid systems can operate in utility environments and support inspection work, a step toward applying embodied AI in critical infrastructure. By combining Neura’s robotics platform with the utilities’ operational know-how, the partners hope to assess practical requirements for grid maintenance. The effort remains at an early stage, but it signals growing interest among energy companies in using humanoid robots to improve safety and efficiency in inspection tasks. No details on trial sites or robot specifications were disclosed.
