Why Robot Fighting Performances Are Less Spectacular Than Last Year: Wang Xingxing Responds
At the 9th Hongqiao International Economic Forum, Wang Xingxing, founder of Unitree Robotics, shared an intriguing observation: "Robot fighting performances are actually less spectacular than last year."
Wang explained that the concept of autonomous robot fighting was proposed by Unitree in 2025 and has been in development for over a year. In the past, robots had poor stability, which made combat feel more intense and entertaining. Today, robots have significantly improved stability—they can withstand any hit and remain standing, resulting in fewer falls and knockdowns. For example, in the past, robots would frequently fall during fights, adding unexpected drama; now they stay upright, making the bout seem more controlled. This has paradoxically reduced the thrill of the performances.
This shift reflects progress in robotics: enhanced stability means robots can maintain balance in complex combat, but it also makes performances less unpredictable. How to design more spectacular fighting shows while ensuring technical reliability may become a future challenge for robotic entertainment.
