Lei Jun Clarifies Unitree Investment: Shunwei Capital's Early Bet, Not IPO Windfall
Xiaomi founder Lei Jun clarified in a recent live stream that the claim that "Lei Jun made over 10 billion yuan from subscribing to Unitree's IPO" is untrue.
He explained that the investment was not made by him personally, but by Shunwei Capital, and it was not an IPO subscription but support for early-stage entrepreneurs. Lei Jun revealed that he met Unitree Technology founder Wang Xingxing over a decade ago, and Shunwei was the sole investor in Unitree's Series A round.
Of course, Shunwei's shareholders also profited. Unitree Technology is a company focused on quadruped and humanoid robots, and has attracted much attention in the robotics field. Shunwei Capital was co-founded by Lei Jun and others, focusing on early-stage investments. The clarification was made to avoid misunderstandings, with Lei Jun emphasizing the importance of supporting young entrepreneurs. Unitree is a leading Chinese robotics company known for its innovative designs. The clarification highlights the role of Shunwei Capital in backing emerging technology ventures.
