Shanghai AI Output Tops 330 Billion Yuan as Pudong Leads Humanoid Robot Race
An IDC report shows global humanoid robot shipments reached nearly 25,000 units in the first half of 2026, up 432.1% year over year. China accounted for more than 19,000 of those units, roughly 77.9% of the worldwide total.
AgiBot, a humanoid robot maker rooted in Shanghai's Pudong district, shipped over 8,600 units in the same period. That represents about 35% of the global market and more than 45% of China's domestic market.
The concentration of output in Pudong has placed the district in China's first tier of humanoid robot clusters, as the sector shifts from technical validation toward volume production.
Shanghai's above-scale artificial intelligence industry exceeded 330 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, growing 22.6% year on year, with roughly one-third of that output generated in Pudong. The figures underscore the city's central position in the global humanoid robot supply chain.
