UBTECH Opens 10,000-Unit Plant as Qiyuan Cuts Humanoid to 19,999 Yuan
Two figures define today's record. UBTECH's Liuzhou plant has entered production with a stated annual capacity above 10,000 humanoid units and a takt time of one robot every ten minutes; Qiyuan priced its Q1 and T1 personal robots from 19,999 yuan, with an Explorer edition at 26,999 yuan. The first sets the scale of manufacturing ambition, the second the scale of consumer pricing.
Read together, the two remain far apart. A ten-minute takt implies single-line theoretical output well above the 10,000-unit plan, which indicates nameplate capacity is being released gradually rather than at steady state. A sub-20,000 yuan humanoid, if it finds volume demand, will compress actuator and sensor cost structures that current bill-of-materials levels do not yet support at scale margin.
On the supply side, Tesla's supplier audit across the Yangtze River Delta lifted Chinese humanoid equities, with Meihu at the daily limit, evidence that overseas volume signals now move domestic component expectations directly. Capital is concentrating on perception: Qianjue Robotics closed two strategic rounds totalling several hundred million yuan within two months, following an earlier hundred-million-yuan round, repeatedly pricing tactile sensing.
Data and policy infrastructure advanced in parallel. Inspire Robots, with Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, open-sourced HandEdit, a first-person human-to-dexterous-hand dataset exceeding 200 million samples, lowering data acquisition costs for manipulation research. Hunan's provincial government approved a smart robotics implementation guideline that directs construction machinery expertise from firms such as Zoomlion into robot development, a deliberate regional industrial bet.
Public deployment is also widening: AGIBOT and Chimelong will open a large embodied AI theme park in Hengqin on September 24, putting more than 300 robots into continuous public operation. Jensen Huang's framing holds: motion autonomy transfers readily, manipulation remains the bottleneck. Two observations follow. Whether the gap between takt time and the 19,999 yuan price closes into volume orders, and how quickly tactile sensing plus dexterous-hand data infrastructure matures.
