Agility taps Nyobolt for ultra-fast charging on Digit 5 humanoid
Power management remains one of the toughest problems for humanoid robot developers. Agility Robotics Inc. said it is working with Nyobolt on a fast-recharge battery system for its Digit 5 platform.
The two companies claim the technology will let the robot put in more than 20 hours of work in a single day.
Daniel Diez, chief business officer at Agility, said that for the company's customers, "Digit's uptime is the business case."
He said Digit 5 will deliver more than 20 hours of productive work in a 24-hour day — more than two full shifts — a gain that materially improves the value customers get from the robot and the economics of running a humanoid fleet.
Nyobolt's ultra-fast charging technology is one of the pieces that makes Digit 5 ready for full-scale operation, Diez added.
Founded in 2015, Agility describes Digit as the first multi-purpose, human-centric robot that is "made for work" and commercially deployed today.
The Salem, Ore.-based company said it has accumulated more than 65,000 real-world operations.
Last month it released Digit 5 with new legs and acknowledged that it is weighing wheeled locomotion.
Nyobolt, founded in 2019, said it has combined proprietary anode materials, advanced cell design and integrated power electronics to enable fast charging, high power density, lower weight and longer lifecycles.
The Cambridge, U.K.-based company said its technology suits demanding industrial applications and cuts downtime, a key constraint on robot utilization.
Nyobolt said its patent portfolio and global footprint support AI datacenters, physical AI and mobility applications while reducing total cost of ownership. In May 2026, it reached a $1 billion valuation after raising $60 million, with backing from Symbotic Inc.
