China Social Security Fund Leads 140M Yuan in Unitree IPO Strategic Placement
On August 6, 2026, Unitree Technology, a general-purpose humanoid robot maker, revealed the full roster of strategic investors for its IPO. The company set the issue price at 150.8 yuan per share and plans to float 40.4464 million shares, with subscriptions beginning on August 10.
The National Social Security Fund, a key state-level long-term investor, took the lead by subscribing 933,400 shares worth about 140 million yuan, making it the largest strategic investor in the offering.
Specifically, three portfolios under the Social Security Fund participated: the 601 portfolio subscribed 340,000 shares for 51.38 million yuan, the 502 portfolio took 327,000 shares for 49.26 million yuan, and the 109 portfolio acquired 266,000 shares for 40.11 million yuan.
Apart from the fund, four industrial capital players — PetroChina Kunlun Capital, Southern Power Grid Industrial Finance, Tianyi Capital, and Shanghai Qishan Investment — each received 903,290 shares, investing about 136 million yuan each. These are investment arms of major central state-owned enterprises with clear industrial synergies with Unitree.
Industry analysts commented that the Social Security Fund's consistent value-oriented and long-term investment approach gives this sizable participation particular significance. It reflects strong endorsement of the humanoid robot track and Unitree's core strengths. At the offering price, Unitree's market capitalization upon listing is estimated at roughly 61 billion yuan.
Founded in 2016, Unitree focuses on the R&D and manufacturing of humanoid and quadruped robots as well as embodied intelligence. Its products have even appeared on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. In 2025, the company shipped 5,511 humanoid robots, ranking first globally, while cumulative sales of quadruped robots surpassed 33,000 units.
The company's financial growth has been remarkable. Revenue jumped from 159 million yuan in 2023 to 1.699 billion yuan in 2025, representing a compound annual growth rate of 226.78% over three years. Its net profit attributable to shareholders (excluding non-recurring items) turned positive, reaching 591 million yuan in 2025.
Unitree stated that the IPO proceeds will be allocated to advancing frontier technology R&D, strengthening capital reserves, improving talent incentives, promoting the deployment of embodied intelligence supply chains, and accelerating the large-scale commercialization of robots.
