China's GDP Grows 4.6% as Electronics, Robotics Lead New Growth Drivers
China's National Bureau of Statistics released third-quarter economic data on Oct. 19. Preliminary calculations put GDP for the first three quarters at 107.1071 trillion yuan, a 4.6% year-on-year increase at constant prices, according to the bureau. The release covered the first three quarters.
The data showed that new growth drivers—led by high-end manufacturing, the digital-intelligent economy and modern services—continued to account for more than 40% of economic growth in the period. That contribution rate remained above 40%, underscoring the role of advanced manufacturing and digital services. High-tech manufacturing and digital-product manufacturing both grew faster than in the prior period, while new growth-driver industries such as electronics and robotics stood out.
The figures point to continued structural improvement in China's economy. The strengthening of high-end manufacturing and digital industries is providing support for stable growth and offers a key lens for assessing the first three quarters' performance. It also shows that high-tech and digital-product manufacturing are gaining momentum, which are key components of the new growth drivers.
