China's Embodied AI Builds 70-Plus Training Grounds Ahead of Robots
China's embodied AI sector is moving from laboratory R&D toward industrial deployment, with progress across training-ground infrastructure, data aggregation, standards development and real-robot applications, according to CCTV. Gasgoo reported that the sector is advancing along the entire supply chain.
The most concrete figure is the scale of physical training facilities: more than 70 embodied AI training grounds have been completed and put into operation nationwide, while over 40 more are under construction or planned. These sites are intended to provide standardized environments for robot learning, testing and validation before commercial deployment.
Geographically, the facilities form three core clusters: the Yangtze River Delta, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Pearl River Delta. The facilities are often described as driving schools for embodied intelligence: they are being built before the robots themselves reach mass deployment. The parallel work on standards and data collection aims to reduce fragmentation and support interoperability across robotic platforms. This infrastructure push signals that China is prioritizing the physical and data foundations for embodied AI, not only model and hardware breakthroughs.
