Ubot Robotics Debuts at HK$14.45, Grey Market Soars 105%, 140x Oversubscribed
Ubot Robotics (03231.HK) made its debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange today. The company priced its initial public offering at HK$14.45 per share, selling 45 million shares, with each board lot set at 200 shares.
In the grey market, an informal over-the-counter market for yet-to-list shares, the stock closed at HK$29.7 on the previous trading day, representing a 105.54% jump from the IPO price. A board lot purchased at the offer price would have yielded a paper profit of HK$3,050, excluding brokerage and other fees.
The public offering tranche was oversubscribed about 140.02 times, indicating intense demand from retail investors. The overwhelming response underscores the market's heightened interest in robotics companies going public.
Analysts note that such dramatic grey market premiums may not always persist once regular trading begins. Investors are advised to remain cautious and monitor the stock's movements closely after the initial trading excitement.
