Xiaopeng's Humanoid Robot Unit Raises $900M in Funding Round
Xiaopeng Motors held its second-quarter 2026 earnings call on the evening of August 24, with Chairman He Xiaopeng steering the conversation toward robotics from the outset. Departing from traditional financial presentations, he emphasized the company's strategic pivot to embodied AI. The move set the stage for a major announcement.
During the call, Xiaopeng announced that its humanoid robot business had signed equity financing agreements with multiple investors, raising over $900 million. The round, led by IDG Capital with participation from Gaorong Ventures, values the robotics unit at a post-investment valuation exceeding $6.3 billion, one of the largest in the sector. The funding marks one of the largest rounds in the humanoid robot field.
He Xiaopeng said robot gross margins could potentially surpass those of the company's automobile business, reflecting his confidence in the segment's profitability. The new capital is expected to accelerate development and commercialization, positioning Xiaopeng as a key player in embodied AI and signaling its transformation beyond automotive manufacturing. This strategic investment underscores the dual focus on smart vehicles and embodied AI.
