Beijing Unveils Plan to Expand AI-Powered Consumer Electronics Supply
The Beijing municipal government has issued the "15th Five-Year Plan Period Plan for Deepening the Construction of an International Consumption Center City," which calls for advancing "AI plus consumption." The plan aims to expand digital product consumption by increasing effective supply of next-generation intelligent terminal products, including AI-powered phones and computers, smart wearables, and intelligent robots.
In addition, the plan seeks to innovate digital content consumption. It encourages the use of AI technology to assist in creating dramas, music, dance, art, and immersive experiences. It also calls for more high-quality digital cultural and museum products, and greater supply of ultra-high-definition content for radio, television, and online audiovisual services.
These measures are designed to stimulate consumer demand and strengthen Beijing's role as a global consumption hub. The initiative reflects broader efforts to integrate AI into daily life and retail, positioning the city at the forefront of smart consumption trends. By promoting AI-enabled devices and content, Beijing aims to boost spending and enhance consumer experiences.
