HowToRobot and Robotics Australia Group Launch Platform to Boost Robot Adoption
Robotics Australia Group and HowToRobot have partnered to offer AI-driven tools for business automation. The collaboration was announced today, aiming to accelerate robot adoption in Australian industry, which currently lags behind most industrialized countries with a robot density of 134 per 10,000 manufacturing employees, compared to the global average of 162.
Søren Peters, founder and CEO of HowToRobot, stated that many businesses lack the internal structure, bandwidth, and expertise to advance automation projects confidently. He explained that the new platform uses AI to help companies describe their projects, reducing the need for lengthy engineering consultations and enabling quicker project maturation. Peters also noted that Australia's robot association expressed interest after seeing the platform, leading to a country-specific version.
Australian manufacturing faces persistent skill shortages, cost pressures, and the slowest productivity growth in 60 years, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The government's National Robotics Strategy suggests that increased automation could add $170 billion to $600 billion to Australia's annual GDP by 2030, highlighting the need for easier adoption processes.
Paul Mason, CEO of Robotics Australia Group, emphasized that making automation easier to adopt requires helping companies make better decisions before spending money. He pointed to the importance of finding the right opportunities, building sound business cases, and involving the right solution providers. Robotics Australia Group, which has produced the 'Australian Robotics Roadmap' and supported the National Robotics Strategy, facilitates connections across the robotics ecosystem.
