MIIT to Foster Aerospace, Intelligent Robots as Pillar Industries in Next Five Years

At a press conference on the 15th Five-Year Plan, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) outlined its strategy to optimize the industrial structure. Officials emphasized a coordinated approach: upgrading traditional industries, cultivating emerging sectors, and making forward-looking arrangements for future industries, while maintaining a complete industrial system to drive new industrialization.

The MIIT plans to accelerate the development of key pillar industries, including integrated circuits, aerospace, biomedicine, low-altitude economy, new energy storage, and intelligent robots. These sectors are expected to become major drivers of economic growth, benefiting from enhanced policy support and resource allocation.

In parallel, the ministry will promote future industries such as quantum technology, biomanufacturing, hydrogen and nuclear fusion energy, brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence, and sixth-generation mobile communications (6G). These cutting-edge fields are positioned to become new economic growth points, potentially reshaping global technology and industry landscapes.

This strategic initiative aims to enhance industrial competitiveness and technological self-reliance. By prioritizing these high-tech sectors, the government seeks to foster new quality productive forces, strengthen supply chain resilience, and secure a leading position in global markets during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
