AgiBot Deploys Full-Size Humanoid in Wuhan Smart Retail Kiosk
China's AgiBot, also known as Zhiyuan, has partnered with Wuhan Culture and Tourism Group and Zhongyun Weixun to launch a smart retail kiosk run by a full-size bipedal humanoid robot. The partners describe the installation as the world's first of its kind, according to a Wall Street CN brief.
The robot assigned to the site is the Expedition A3 Ultra. It has begun real commercial operation at the “Jiangyu” bridge-pier film camp on Hankou Riverside in Wuhan, where it serves visitors in a live tourism setting rather than a laboratory demonstration.
Unlike traditional vending equipment, the Expedition A3 Ultra uses its full-size bipedal body to recognize products, grasp them precisely and complete the delivery process on its own. The kiosk covers more than ten snack and beverage categories, and it also supports human-robot interaction for tourists.
The deployment is positioned as an early commercial test of humanoid robots in retail and tourism. By combining autonomous manipulation with visitor-facing service, the project aims to show how full-size bipedal robots can move beyond showcases into everyday commercial environments.
