Shanghai Composite Gains 0.39% as Humanoid Robot and Defense Stocks Rally
Chinese equities closed higher in choppy trading, with the Shanghai Composite Index gaining 0.39%. Bank stocks rose collectively as Agricultural Bank of China and Postal Savings Bank of China advanced more than 3%, while Industrial and Commercial Bank of China touched an intraday record high and regained its position as the largest A-share company by market capitalization.
Defense shares also strengthened: Ganhua Technology posted a second consecutive limit-up, and Hangcai Shares and North Navigation climbed over 8%. The Ministry of Commerce, together with eight other departments, issued opinions on accelerating technology-driven commerce, and the humanoid robot concept traded actively. Trading volumes stayed moderate, and the index fluctuated before settling near session highs. The session reflected investor interest in policy-linked themes and large-cap financials, with sector rotation favoring growth-oriented and defense names while banks provided steady support.
