Robot 'Body Shows' Fade as Industry Focus Shifts to Factory Floor at 2026 CIIF
According to Cailian Press on Oct. 16, the humanoid robot “body shows” that had clustered around singing, dancing and sand-painting performances in recent years have clearly receded at this year's China International Industry Fair.
The 26th China International Industry Fair ran from Oct. 12 to 16 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). As a bellwether for China's robotics industry, its robotics exhibition adopted the theme “Embodied Industrial Intelligence Leads the Future.”
For the first time, the event established an independent special exhibition area for embodied intelligence, linking it with the main hall exhibition. The setup reflects a broader shift in industry attention from display-oriented performances toward practical workshop working capability.
The fair's organizers and exhibitors are putting more emphasis on robots that can perform real tasks in factories, warehouses and other industrial settings, rather than choreographed demonstrations. This trend suggests embodied AI is moving from hype to deployment, with industrial value becoming the key benchmark.
The robotics sector is now watching whether such systems can deliver reliability, safety and return on investment at scale.
