BSE Hundred-Billion Market Cap Firms Double to Eight as SME Listings Grow
Since its establishment in November 2021, the Beijing Stock Exchange (BSE) has experienced remarkable growth. The number of listed companies has climbed to 339, and total market capitalization has expanded from roughly 300 billion yuan at its inception to about 840 billion yuan. The roster of firms with a market capitalization exceeding 100 billion yuan has doubled from four to eight, reflecting the exchange's deepening liquidity and investor confidence.
Trading activity has intensified as well. Average daily turnover has surged from under 1 billion yuan in the early phase to approximately 20 billion yuan today, indicating robust market engagement.
The BSE has become a vital platform for China's innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). More than 60% of its listed companies are recognized as national-level 'little giants' — enterprises known for specialization, refinement, uniqueness, and novelty. These firms span key sectors such as robotics, new energy, aerospace, semiconductors, and automotive supply chains.
Over the past five years, BSE has facilitated SME financing of about 80 billion yuan, with an average of roughly 200 million yuan per company. Over 80% of the funds raised have been directed toward green low-carbon initiatives, the digital economy, high-end equipment manufacturing, and new materials, underscoring the exchange's alignment with China's strategic development goals.
