MIIT: Humanoid Robot Products Top 400 Models as Annual Output Nears 100,000 Units
On October 19, the State Council Information Office held a press conference, where Wei Wei, director of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Department of Science and Technology, presented the latest progress in China's embodied intelligence and humanoid robotics industries.
Wei said that in the first half of 2026, China's humanoid robot complete-machine products exceeded 400 models, while output topped 40,000 units. Industry forecasts put full-year production at more than 100,000 units, indicating that supply capacity and product variety are both expanding. The figures point to rapid growth in a sector that has drawn increasing policy and industrial attention. The ministry described the data as evidence that the country's humanoid robot supply chain is maturing and that more complete products are reaching the market.
The MIIT said it will take humanoid robots as an entry point to drive the overall development of the embodied intelligence industry. The ministry is positioning humanoid robotics as a strategic priority, and it plans to promote coordinated advances in technology, products and applications. It also aims to align research, manufacturing and deployment, with the goal of empowering commerce through science and technology. It said the sector's development should be supported by closer coordination among upstream and downstream players.
