Beijing Encourages R&D of Elderly Care and Companion Robots in Home Services Plan
The Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, together with five other government departments, has issued a work plan titled "Implementation Plan for Further Improving the Quality of In-Home Care Services and Promoting the Healthy Development of the Housekeeping Industry." The plan aims to upgrade the housekeeping sector by leveraging digital and intelligent technologies, with a particular focus on addressing the growing demands of elderly and child care.
To achieve this, the plan calls for accelerating the development of housekeeping service platforms that utilize big data and artificial intelligence to build user profiles, provide precise services, and conduct tracking evaluations, thereby enabling an accurate match between supply and demand. Housekeeping enterprises are also encouraged to speed up their digital transformation to enhance operational management and service efficiency, better catering to personalized and diversified service needs.
In addition, the plan explicitly encourages housekeeping platforms and related companies to intensify R&D efforts on innovative new technologies and products, including elderly-care robots, emotional companion robots, smart wearable devices, and health monitoring equipment. By exploring new "human-machine collaboration" models, the plan seeks to better satisfy the care service demands of both the elderly and young children.
