FieldAI Seeks $700M as Robot Deployments Widen
FieldAI is reported to be raising roughly USD 700 million at a USD 10 billion valuation while offering autonomy software alone, a level normally attached to firms that own factories. A separate Leaderobot tally puts more than CNY 2 billion of embodied AI capital into play, with inland universities supplying a large share of founding teams. Both figures point to the same repricing: investors are paying hardware-scale multiples for reusable navigation and manipulation stacks.
Capital is concentrating in sensing and software layers. Leju Robotics (01236.HK) signed with Huazhong University of Science and Technology on flexible 3D tactile sensing, and Moxian Technology, founded by a former DJI engineer, closed a round in the tens of millions of RMB with robot maker Zibianliang Robotics participating. A body manufacturer funding a tactile supplier indicates vertical integration is already priced into early rounds.
Deployment is shifting toward institutional channels. DEEP Robotics' DR02 humanoid has entered Singapore's Home Team Humanoid Robotics Centre, and its quadrupeds are used in Hong Kong classrooms for STEAM teaching. Placement inside a foreign government public safety programme, and inside school curricula, converts one-off hardware sales into service and channel revenue.
Segments with measurable payers attracted coordinated action. Hefei Dabai Robot completed a Series A led by Jiuwei Capital for AI elderly care, and the 9th China Robot Summit launched a collaborative innovation platform for rehabilitation and elderly care robots. Aging demographics supply a calculable payer base that general-purpose humanoids still lack.
Two observation points follow. The software premium is tested by whether FieldAI closes at the reported figure. And tactile sensing suppliers will either stay independent or be absorbed by the humanoid makers now writing their cheques, which sets where bargaining power sits in that link of the chain.
