Shanghai Composite Edges Up 0.12% as AI, Robot ETFs Lead Gains
The Shanghai Composite closed 0.12% higher, with exchange-traded funds tied to technology and robotics themes leading gains. The STAR AI ETF rose 5%, and the robot ETF added 4.8%, while late-session trading volume increased in the STAR 50 ETF and SSE 50 ETF. Sector performance showed humanoid robots, software, pharmaceuticals and automobiles strengthening, whereas financials, coal, nonferrous metals, home appliances and real estate came under pressure. The split suggested investors favored growth themes with clear artificial-intelligence and automation exposure over cyclical and rate-sensitive sectors. The move was modest at the index level but pronounced in thematic products, highlighting continued demand for embodied-AI and robotics narratives in China’s ETF market. The late-session volume in broad-based benchmarks also indicated active positioning around the close.
