Bionic Robot 'Cuicui' Brings Shen Congwen's Character to Life as Tour Guide
On October 19, a bionic robot named Cuicui made her debut as a tour guide at the Qule Tourist Service Center in Border Town, Hunan Province. Dressed in traditional Miao ethnic clothing, the robot greeted visitors with fluent answers to questions such as 'What fun things are there to do in Border Town?' and 'Can you introduce the Miao outfit you're wearing?' She also chatted with tourists and posed for photos.
Cuicui is the beloved character from Shen Congwen's literary masterpiece 'Border Town,' known as the girl who guarded the white pagoda. Now, she has been brought to life as a physical robot, embodying the literary figure in a tangible form. The robot's lifelike appearance and conversational abilities impressed visitors, who eagerly interacted with her.
This innovative application of bionic technology not only enriches the tourist experience but also showcases how robotics can merge with cultural heritage. By transforming a fictional character into a real-world guide, the project offers a glimpse into the future of immersive tourism, where technology and storytelling converge.
