Fast Charging, Battery Swapping, Wireless Charging: How Long Can Humanoid Robots Work?
Leaderobot reports that humanoid robots are being assessed through three power strategies: a 9-minute fast charge, a 3-minute battery swap and a 1-hour wireless charge. Each reflects a different trade-off among infrastructure cost, operational continuity and safety. Fast charging cuts downtime but may stress batteries and require high-power sites. Battery swapping restores range in minutes but needs standardized packs and exchange stations. Wireless charging simplifies docking and supports opportunistic top-ups, though it is slower and less efficient.
The key question is how these methods combine into daily uptime in practice, not which looks best alone. In factories, logistics and service settings, charging strategy closely affects utilization, fleet size and total cost. The debate also matters for robot makers, operators and infrastructure providers as humanoid robots move from demos to sustained commercial operation.
