Shenzhen Unicorn Splits, Sells Robotics Business for 60M Yuan; Xiyuan Robotics Raises Angel
A Shenzhen team that created a unicorn is now entering the embodied robot complete-machine market. The unicorn, valued at 6.5 billion yuan, has split off its robotics business and sold it for 60 million yuan, according to the article's headline.
The new venture, Shenzhen Xiyuan Robotics, completed an angel funding round in late September, according to Tianyancha. Investors included Xincapital, Matrix Partners China and Source Code Rhythm. The financing amount was not disclosed. Xiyuan was founded in July 2026.
Its actual controller is Qiu Chunxin, founder, chairman and chief scientist of RoboSense, a leading lidar supplier. The arrangement puts a lidar industry veteran at the helm of a startup focused on full embodied robots. RoboSense's lidar technology is widely used in autonomous driving and robotics, giving Xiyuan a potential hardware advantage. The spin-off and new funding suggest that sensing hardware expertise is increasingly moving into complete robot systems, a trend worth watching in China's embodied AI sector.
