Nvidia Weighs Another $1 Billion Bet on Humanoid Robot Maker Figure
Nvidia has discussed putting another $1 billion into Figure, the humanoid robot maker, according to people familiar with the matter cited by The Information. The talks come as Figure seeks fresh funding at a pre-money valuation of roughly $38 billion.
Nvidia is already a Figure backer. About a year ago, Figure raised more than $1 billion at the same valuation, underscoring sustained investor appetite for humanoid robotics even as broader AI funding shows signs of cooling.
The potential follow-on investment also reflects Nvidia's push to broaden its bets beyond chips. CEO Jensen Huang has publicly acknowledged worrying that AI demand could cool, or that rival products might emerge to replace Nvidia's chips, eroding its dominant position.
Neither company has confirmed the reported discussions, and terms could still change.
