Samsung Tests 24/7 Humanoid Robot, May Debut at CES 2027
Samsung Electronics is accelerating its push into the robotics market by developing a humanoid robot capable of operating 24 hours a day. According to industry sources on Monday, the company's Robot Experience (RX) division is testing the robot at its Seoul R&D Center in Umyeon-dong, Seocho-gu, southern Seoul. The robot is designed for industrial environments where continuous operation is essential, and it is being evaluated for its ability to work around the clock. The Korean tech giant aims to catch up with global leaders in the robotics sector.
The robot is currently learning to navigate its surroundings and perform repetitive tasks, such as transporting goods in manufacturing and logistics settings. This testing phase focuses on refining the robot's autonomous navigation and task execution capabilities, aiming to ensure reliable performance without human intervention over extended periods. The tests simulate real industrial scenarios, and the data gathered will inform further development and optimization.
The humanoid robot may make its first public appearance at CES 2027 in Las Vegas next January. The development underscores Samsung's broader strategy to integrate advanced robotics into industrial workflows and highlights the intensifying competition in the humanoid robot sector, where companies are racing to deploy reliable, continuous-operation machines.
