Amazon Open-Sources Physical AI Toolchain to Help Build Real-World Robots
Amazon announced on Oct. 8 that it has launched the Physical AI Toolchain, an open-source stack on AWS to help manufacturers build machines that can perceive, reason, and act in the real world.
Built on AWS and leveraging NVIDIA's physical AI stack, the toolchain is inspired by Amazon's own robotics experience. It targets industrial automation, autonomous mobility, and humanoid robotics.
Amazon says the next wave of AI is moving off screens and into the physical world—factory floors, warehouses, and roads. Physical AI is one of the fastest-growing frontiers in technology, and companies building it need infrastructure that can keep up.
The toolchain packages lessons from Amazon's decade-plus of deploying robots in its fulfillment centers, offering developers reusable components for simulation, training, and deployment. It integrates with AWS services and NVIDIA's simulation and AI platforms, enabling end-to-end development of embodied AI systems. By open-sourcing the stack, Amazon aims to lower barriers for manufacturers and accelerate innovation in physical AI. The company positions AWS as the scalable infrastructure backbone for this emerging field.
