UBTech and FAW-Volkswagen Partner to Move Humanoid Robots from Inspection to Factory Logistics
UBTech announced on Oct. 8 that it signed a strategic cooperation agreement with FAW-Volkswagen. The two companies will jointly develop and test embodied intelligent robots for logistics scenarios and build a demonstration site. The partnership extends an existing collaboration in which UBTech's Walker S Lite humanoid robot performed vehicle quality inspection training at FAW-Volkswagen's Qingdao branch.
The Qingdao branch operates a national-level intelligent manufacturing demonstration factory, providing a production-oriented testbed for the new logistics work. By moving from inspection to logistics, the agreement aims to broaden humanoid robot applications in automotive manufacturing. The companies did not disclose deployment timelines, the number of robots, or specific logistics tasks.
The collaboration reflects a wider push to place humanoid robots in real factory environments. Logistics is often viewed as a demanding next step because it requires navigation, manipulation, and coordination with existing systems. The demonstration site is expected to validate performance in production workflows, though detailed metrics and milestones remain undisclosed.
