Generative Bionics to Build Physical AI Data Factory in Italy
Generative Bionics this week announced plans to build a proprietary, multi-site “Physical AI Data Factory” in Italy. The first hub, spanning 5,000 sq. m (53,819.5 sq. ft.), is expected to become one of Europe’s largest physical AI training facilities for humanoid robots.
The Genoa-based company said the facility will help move humanoid robotics from laboratory demonstrations to reliable industrial deployment. It is scheduled to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2027, with a second site planned elsewhere in Europe and a third intended to serve global markets.
Generative Bionics said it hopes to advance European humanoid sovereignty. The company wants the data, models and know-how behind Europe’s industrial humanoids to be generated, trained and validated on the continent.
CEO Daniele Pucci told The Robot Report that Europe’s current advantage lies in its industry. He said extracting physical AI data is necessary to train Europe’s own models, citing the automation installed across the region over the past 40 years.
AMD will be Generative Bionics’ AI infrastructure partner, building on a strategic technology collaboration. The Physical AI Data Factory network will be powered by AMD Helios.
The rack-scale architecture will provide the compute foundation to process physical and synthetic data, train physical AI models, and run thousands of digital-twin scenario variations in parallel.
