Chery VP: Robots in Factories Still Five Years Away
At the 2026 World Robot Conference, Chery's Mojia Robotics brought real-world robot operations to the venue. Live feeds from police robots patrolling streets across 22 cities were synchronized, while 12 car dealerships simultaneously showcased the Moyin service application, all displayed on one big screen at the booth.
Chery's pivot to robotics raises two key questions: why is an automaker developing robots, and when will humanoid robots actually work in car factories? According to a Chery vice president, the latter is still at least five years away. While the company has demonstrated progress in practical robotics applications, large-scale deployment of humanoid workers in automotive manufacturing remains a long-term goal rather than an imminent reality.
