2nd World Humanoid Robot Games Open with Tug-of-War and Table Tennis
The 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games, jointly organized by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, China Media Group, and other units, opened in Beijing today. The event will run through February 26, featuring 51 competition events and over 1,300 matches.
This year's competitive events introduce high-intensity disciplines such as long jump, weightlifting, tug-of-war, and table tennis, pushing humanoid robots to their limits in terms of AI decision-making, motion control, body structure, and core components. These tests evaluate the robots' physical endurance, precision, and real-time adaptability under extreme conditions, providing a benchmark for the latest advancements in humanoid robotics.
In addition to the athletic contests, the games include multiple scenario-based competitions across nine domains, including households, hotels, and logistics. These scenarios demonstrate the practical potential of humanoid robots in everyday production and life, from domestic assistance to commercial services. The event underscores the rapid progress in embodied AI and highlights the growing importance of humanoid robotics as a transformative technology for various industries. As humanoid robots continue to evolve, such competitions serve as a crucial platform for identifying strengths and weaknesses, ultimately accelerating their deployment in real-world applications.
