Unitree Wins One Gold, Two Silvers at First CMG Robot Mount Tai Climb
Held on November 2 in Tai'an, Shandong, the first CMG World Robot Mount Tai Climbing Competition sent machines from Hongmen to Zhongtianmen along a 3.9-kilometer route with more than 3,100 stone steps. Organizers built the challenge around continuous stairs and steep, winding inclines to test locomotion control, energy management and autonomous decision-making in complex mountain terrain. Robots had to maintain stable gaits over long climbs while sensing terrain changes in real time. CMG described the event as its first world robot contest on Mount Tai, intended to validate legged robots under real-world mountain conditions. Unitree Technology finished with one gold and two silver medals, according to Wallstreetcn. The event highlighted the growing focus on embodied AI and robust mobility for robots operating outside controlled environments. The result underlined Unitree's strong showing in rugged-terrain trials.
