Moja Robotics GM: Robot-making is a marathon, premature hype hurts brand
At the 2026 Chery Global Innovation Conference, Chairman Yin Tongyue presented Chery as “a high-tech AI company wearing an automaker’s vest,” signaling a strategic shift beyond conventional vehicle manufacturing. The remark framed the automaker’s ambition to be judged by intelligent technology, not just car output.
A day later, Moja Robotics, a Chery subsidiary, unveiled its latest product, the Mobao. The timing linked the parent company’s AI positioning to a concrete robotics offering and gave the new unit a public stage. In a small media group interview after the launch, Moja Robotics General Manager Zhang Guibing told 21 Auto’s Yijian Auto that Chery is eager to transform from a traditional automaker into an intelligent technology company.
Zhang also described robot development as a marathon, warning that premature marketing can damage a brand’s credibility. The comments suggest Moja intends to emphasize steady progress over early hype as Chery expands from cars into embodied AI and robotics. For Chery, the launch is both a product milestone and a test of how its AI narrative translates into commercial execution.
