Beijing Yizhuang Unveils Plan for 100,000 Embodied AI Robots
During the opening of the 2026 World Robot Conference on August 19 in Beijing Yizhuang, Li Quan, deputy director of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area Management Committee, introduced the 'Beijing Machine Domain' concept. This blueprint envisions a new society where humans and embodied intelligent robots coexist harmoniously.
The plan outlines a three-pronged approach: developing 100 ready-to-deploy robot products, applying them in 1,000 niche scenarios, and scaling production to 100,000 units of embodied intelligent robots. It also targets manufacturing capacity for 1 million key components, ensuring a self-sufficient supply chain.
This initiative is expected to create a robust industrial ecosystem, fostering collaboration across the robotics value chain. By achieving scale, costs could decline, making advanced robotics more accessible to smaller businesses and broader industries.
The announcement signals a strategic commitment to embodied AI, with potential impacts on manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics. As China pushes for leadership in intelligent robotics, Beijing Yizhuang aims to become a global hub for human-robot integration, attracting investment and talent to accelerate innovation and transform everyday life.
