Foxconn and IAT Launch Turnkey Robot Platform to Bridge Mass-Production Gap
On September 21, Beijing Yizhuang hosted a significant move in the embodied intelligence industry: a robot Turn-Key full-stack physical platform jointly built by Foxconn Technology Group and IAT was officially launched.
The platform is operated through Beijing Futekang Intelligent Robot Technology Co., Ltd., its physical vehicle. The industry expects the platform to help overcome the bottleneck between laboratory prototypes and large-scale mass production.
At the event, the platform operator signed cooperation agreements with several companies, including Yingzhi Technology and Songyan Power. These partnerships are intended to build an industrialization service system covering the entire chain from R&D to manufacturing.
The mass-production bottleneck in embodied intelligence is not about technology demonstrations; it is about engineering capability. The industry still struggles to scale prototypes, and supply chain integration, engineering validation, and cost control have become key obstacles. During a roundtable at the event, industry guests argued that the real bottleneck lies in engineering capability, scenario delivery, and industrial chain coordination, rather than in technical demos alone.
As the operator of the robot Turn-Key full-stack platform, Futekang integrates Foxconn's precision manufacturing supply chain with IAT's automotive-grade R&D capabilities. It seeks to close the loop from technology R&D to pilot productization and mass production, thereby reducing pilot and mass-production costs. Xuan Qiwu, chairman of IAT, said Futekang will provide innovation teams with full-stack services from concept to mass production, helping projects clear the last mile to deployment.
The shareholder structure of Beijing Futekang Intelligent Robot Technology Co., Ltd. reflects this industrial combination. IAT Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. and Foxconn Technology Group Co., Ltd. each hold 45%, while Beijing Gongxin Tongda Technology Partnership holds 10%. Its business scope includes intelligent robot sales, industrial robot sales, and special operation robot manufacturing, among other areas.
Foxconn has accumulated strengths in precision structural parts processing, joint module mass production, and complete-machine OEM. IAT brings experience in vehicle development processes, system integration, and intelligent solutions. Together, the two partners aim to transfer the manufacturing cadence and quality management system of the automotive industry to robot production, a move that could bring automotive-grade discipline to an emerging sector.
Beijing E-Town has already gathered more than 300 robot and embodied intelligence-related entities, with an industrial scale exceeding 20 billion yuan. Futekang's landing is expected to further improve the regional industrial ecosystem and to play a hub role in driving upstream and downstream collaborative innovation. The platform may also help connect component suppliers, integrators, and end users more efficiently.
From prototype to mass production, a robot must pass several gates: supply chain integration, engineering validation, cost control, and quality consistency. The value of a turnkey platform is that it packages these gates into a single service, so innovation teams do not have to build manufacturing capabilities from scratch. This approach can shorten development cycles and reduce the risk of pilot-to-production failure.
Songyan Power, a company that already has products, and Yingzhi Technology, which is still at an early stage, both signed with Futekang. This indicates that the platform covers the full chain from concept to mass production. Such mixed participation suggests the platform is designed to serve both established robot makers and early-stage innovators.
The launch comes as embodied AI companies face pressure to move beyond prototypes and into commercial deployment. By offering turnkey services, Futekang aims to lower the barrier to mass production and allow teams to focus on core technology and application scenarios. The platform's success will depend on how well it can coordinate manufacturing resources and deliver consistent quality at scale.
The collaboration between Foxconn and IAT also highlights a broader trend: traditional manufacturing and automotive players are increasingly entering the robotics supply chain. Their expertise in process management, cost control, and quality assurance could become a crucial enabler for the next wave of robot commercialization. In Beijing E-Town, the platform is positioned as a central node for this emerging ecosystem.
