Tesla Sources Chinese Components for US Humanoid Robot Production, Audits Three Ningbo Suppliers

Foreign media reports indicate that Tesla has begun purchasing components from China for its humanoid robots that are manufactured in the United States.

As the world's largest producer of humanoid robots, China's component supply will help Tesla accelerate the production ramp-up of its humanoid robots at its Fremont, California factory.

In mid-September, Tesla's robotics business team began conducting factory audits of three automotive parts suppliers located in Ningbo. These three suppliers are Joyson Electronics, Tuopu Group, and Sanhua Automotive.

The audits are part of Tesla's efforts to prepare for mass production of its Optimus humanoid robot.

Before the factory audits, these three companies had already received orders from Tesla for humanoid robot components, including joint modules, actuators, and precision structural parts.

After passing audits regarding production line performance as well as compliance with relevant regulations and standards, these suppliers will begin mass production of the components. Additionally, Tesla's robotics team visited related companies in Hangzhou, Shanghai, and other cities in the region.

Tesla placing orders before auditing the production lines indicates that these suppliers already have a cooperative foundation with Tesla in automotive parts. The focus of the audit is to confirm whether the robot component production lines can meet mass production requirements.

This approach underscores the existing partnership between Tesla and these suppliers in the automotive sector.
