Unitree Launches G1+ Humanoid Robot with Six Major Upgrades Across Motion and Perception
Unitree has launched the G1+, an upgraded version of its G1 humanoid robot, according to TechNode. The new model introduces six major upgrades spanning motion performance, perception, interaction, and endurance. The standard G1+ is priced at RMB 95,000 in China, while the G1+ EDU version is available by contacting the company's sales team.
The G1+ is designed to address several bottlenecks that have limited humanoid robots in research and early commercial settings. Unitree, a Chinese robotics company known for its quadruped robots, has positioned the G1 platform as an affordable and capable humanoid. The G1+ continues that strategy with incremental but meaningful engineering improvements.
In motion performance, the G1+ adds two degrees of freedom in the neck, allowing more expressive head movement and improved visual orientation. Peak shoulder-and-waist motor torque is increased by 110%, while maximum arm torque rises by 43%. The robot also reduces heat generation at the same torque level, which can support longer operating periods.
The perception system receives a significant boost with a new binocular-plus-wide-angle vision setup. This combination can improve depth sensing, obstacle detection, and spatial awareness in dynamic environments. Unitree also adds head touch sensing, enabling the robot to respond to physical contact on its head, which may be useful for interactive tasks.
Interaction capabilities are expanded through a six-microphone array and dual 10-watt speakers. The microphone array can help with voice pickup, sound source localization, and noise suppression, while the speakers allow the robot to communicate audibly with users. These features point toward more natural human-robot interaction.
For endurance, the G1+ supports external power, meaning it can operate continuously when connected to a power source. This is particularly relevant for laboratory research, industrial inspection, and other scenarios where battery swaps or charging breaks are impractical. The upgrade helps bridge the gap between short demonstrations and sustained operation.
Pricing remains a key differentiator. At RMB 95,000 for the standard model in China, the G1+ is significantly cheaper than many Western humanoid robots. The G1+ EDU version, intended for education and research, is available through direct sales contact. Unitree's pricing strategy may lower barriers for universities and startups.
The launch comes amid intensifying global competition in humanoid robotics. Companies such as Tesla, Figure, and Agility Robotics are developing their own platforms, while Chinese firms like Unitree, UBTech, and Fourier Intelligence are moving quickly. Unitree's focus on rapid iteration and cost control gives it a distinct position in this race.
While the six upgrades are notable, challenges remain for all humanoid robots, including battery life, dexterous manipulation, and autonomous decision-making. The G1+ does not claim to solve these fully, but it represents a step toward more capable and practical machines. For researchers and developers, the upgraded model offers a more flexible platform to test new algorithms and applications.
The torque increases are particularly important for real-world tasks. A 110% boost at the shoulder and waist can help the G1+ lift heavier payloads, maintain balance under load, and recover from pushes. The 43% increase in arm torque improves manipulation, while lower heat at the same torque means the motors can run longer without throttling. These changes matter for tasks such as inspection, assembly, and material handling.
