DJI Ex-Executive's Personal Mobility Robot Hits 50% Trial Conversion, Zero Returns
While most robotics companies are still performing backflips on exhibition stages, a three-year-old startup has already gotten users to pay for its product—with a near-50% trial-to-purchase conversion rate and a 0% return rate.
Founded by former DJI executive Hong Xiaoping, Strutt recently completed its Pre-A+ funding round, bringing total funding to nearly $100 million. Investors include a leading global mobility tech company, a top domestic internet fund, and a Greater Bay Area industrial fund.
Strutt's first product, the Angshou EV1, is positioned as a 'personal intelligent mobility robot' for homes, communities, malls, and outdoor settings. It features a multimodal sensor-based companion driving system, four motors, active steering, and four-wheel independent suspension, capable of navigating indoor and urban public spaces, as well as grass, gravel, and light off-road terrain.
Unlike traditional mobility devices, the EV1 is not designed as an 'electric wheelchair' or 'scooter.' Instead, it aims to become a physical AI terminal that integrates into daily life by addressing high-frequency, essential personal mobility needs. The robot continuously perceives its environment, judges driving conditions, and provides driving assistance and obstacle avoidance while retaining user control.
