Panda Robot Steals the Show at UESTC Robot Tour, Chased by Children

On September 26, at the plaza in front of the Yifu Building on the Shahe campus of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), a giant panda robot suddenly darted out from the side of an exhibition stand. It rolled twice, scrambled to its feet, and ran. Seven or eight children immediately chased after it, running and shouting, "Panda, wait for me!" The unexpected scene instantly enlivened the campus and drew a crowd of onlookers. The panda's antics quickly became the talk of the campus.

The panda, of course, is not a real animal but a robot. Its playful escape marked the opening of the robot tour at the "Digital-Intelligence Symbiosis · Campus-Locality Co-prosperity: Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Industry-Research Integration Innovation Development Conference." The event is one of the activities celebrating UESTC's 70th anniversary and the second Alumni Culture Festival. The conference is a major event on UESTC's calendar.

The tour, themed "Digital-Intelligence Symbiosis · Campus-Locality Co-prosperity," aims to promote the integration of robotics and artificial intelligence with industry and research, and to strengthen campus-locality cooperation. The exhibition area covers approximately 2,330 square meters and hosts nearly 30 companies. It provides a platform for companies to demonstrate their latest technologies.

Exhibitors span a wide range of fields, including industrial manufacturing, healthcare, education and entertainment, semiconductors, and embodied intelligence. The event attracted numerous UESTC alumni from various graduating classes, as well as local citizens who brought their children to visit and take photos. Many families spent the morning exploring the various booths.

The first day saw a large turnout, adding a strong technological atmosphere to the anniversary celebrations. The event is part of UESTC's efforts to showcase its research achievements and foster innovation in the region. The diverse exhibits and interactive displays attracted a steady stream of visitors throughout the morning. The lively scene set a positive tone for the two-day tour.
